In Matthew 19:16-30, we find the conversation Jesus has with the man we know as “the rich young ruler.” It’s interesting as one reads the text, the young man reveals a subtle lie the Enemy plants in our heads at a young age. The lie that God is a taker and not a giver.
It is easy to fall into that line of thinking even personally this time of year. We tend to think of what we will receive as a gift rather than the gifts we are able to give.
In Matthew 19:23-30, Jesus uses this real-life situation as a reminder that you cannot outgive God!
As we reflect on the arrival of hope this week, let us remember that the Christ child has come to give us everything we don’t even realize we need. He is our hope!
