For the Needs of Our Neighbors
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
When God asks us to do something He always provides the power to do it. We can expect it. We can count on it. We can depend on it. We should anticipate God’s help with whatever He calls us to do.
Envision your neighborhood – large or small. Think of all the various needs that exist within that community. There are physical needs, emotional needs, spiritual needs, relational needs. Christ challenges us to not focus upon our own needs. He calls us to focus on His purpose and mission for our lives. Jesus said, if you will put His kingdom as your primary concern He will take care of all your needs.
We really have two options. Either we work to meet our own needs or allow God the opportunity to meet our needs. Who will do a better job? It is essential that we say, “God, I’m going to focus on putting you first in my life.” When we make that decision, the promise of God is to assume the responsibility for all of the needs of our lives. What a relief!
