Everyone worships. People do not have to be encouraged to worship. We worship our work and our vehicles and our teams and other people. Everyone worships.
The challenge of my heart (and yours too) is that I need to ascribe worth (worship) the One who made me and died for me. But oh how I am prone to wander.
John Ortberg said, “I need to worship because without it I can forget that I have a big God beside me and live in fear. I need to worship because without it I can forget his calling and begin to live in a spirit of self-preoccupation. I need to worship because without it I lose a sense of wonder and gratitude and plod through life with blinders on. I need worship because my natural tendency is toward self-reliance and stubborn independence.”
I am excited to worship with our Salem Family this Sunday through these songs we sing. But my prayer, is that God might use these songs of worship to give you a sense of wonder about who HE is!
