Total Dependence

I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing…  John 15:5

Have you ever stopped to ponder why people do not pray more?

For most, it is simply because we do not see the need.  If we peel back the layer, we think we can handle life by ourselves.  We can do it on our own.  When a problem arises, the human reaction is, “Now how am I going to fix this?” I want to become a person who stops and says, “Lord what do you want to do through this?”  Jesus is very clear that the only way to bear fruit (experience a full life) is to remain in Him.

Our usefulness in God’s hands begins when we recognize our total dependence upon God.  How do we know we are at that place?  We know we are fully depending on God when our first response is prayer.

Pray Today:

God, I confess my first response to situations in my life is worry… panic… control… etc.  Take a few moments and confess specific areas before the Lord.  Lord, I want to be available to your purposes.  Will you allow me to leverage my problems as opportunities to tell others of Your faithfulness?
